Josh VanBrocklin 2011 Season in Review; Can Am Championship Highlights Banner Season For VanBrocklin Motorsports

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - November 1, 2011

Before the 2011 season started, Josh VanBrocklin set his goal for the season to win the Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park Sportsman track championship.  That goal became even more evident when team sponsors Clarence Henry Coach and American Traditions Motorsports came on board to sponsor the Sportsman division.  After finishing second in points in 2010, and winning the SUNY Canton Sportsman title the year before, VanBrocklin was confident going into the season that he had the team and the equipment to capture his first career track championship.

When the season got underway in late April, VanBrocklin got off to a fast start, winning at Can Am on opening night, and following that with three more top five finishes through the month of May.  The Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series also started in May, but motor problems prevented the team from scoring a top three finish at Rolling Wheels.

VanBrocklin was virtually unbeatable at Can Am through June and July, posting an impressive run of five straight victories.  That streak was stopped only be a second place finish, before getting back to victory lane again the following week.  By now, VanBrocklin had a large point lead built up, and the 2011 championship was inevitable.  He picked up another win at Can Am and August, and finished the season with an incredible 106 point advantage in the battle for the championship.

With the season over at Can Am in early September, he Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series began to heat up.  After a three race swing at Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedway, VanBrocklin moved into third place in the Mr. DIRTcar standings.  After a win at Mohawk Raceway later in the month, VanBrocklin moved to second, and with the leader having problems, it opened the door, and VanBrocklin gained valuable championship points.  The following weekend was another series race at Brighton Speedway, but as the team arrived at the track, so did the rain, and the race was canceled.

The month of October is always highlighted by Super DIRT Week, but for VanBrocklin, there was nothing Super at all.  At Weedsport, VanBrocklin was involved in an early race crash, and he didn’t finish.  At Syracuse, a blown motor kept him out of time trials, and after qualifying through the last chance race, and running the 30 lap main event, he was involved in a late race crash and again didn’t finish.  The season ended just a week later at Brockville where he ended with a third place finish, and secured second place in points.

VanBrocklin ended the 2011 season with nine feature wins, with 8 of them coming at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, and the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman race at Mohawk Raceway.  In 27 total events this season, VanBrocklin posted 20 top ten finishes and 17 top fives.

On November 19th, VanBrocklin will be honored for his second place finish in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman point standings, and Can Am track championship.  The awards presentation will take place at the Turning Stone Casino in Vernon, New York.  Can Am will honor their champions sometime in January.

Josh VanBrocklin Ends 2011 Season With Third Place Finish in Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series Event at Brockville Speedway

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - October 21, 2011

The last couple weeks have not been good for Josh VanBrocklin and the VanBrocklin Motorsports team, as the struggled through Super DIRT Week with a hard crash at Cayuga County Speedway, and then lost a motor in practice at the New York State Fairgrounds the next day.  VanBrocklin was hoping to that the final race of the 2011 season would be much better as they traveled north to Brockville Speedway on Sunday afternoon for the Northeast Fall Nationals.

VanBrocklin entered the race at Brockville in third place in the overall Mr. DIRTcar point standings, and was looking to get back into second place before the end of the day.  In time trials, he posted the second fastest time in his group, and started and finished second in his qualifying heat race, placing him into the redraw for one of the top ten starting spots for the 50 lap Sportsman main event.  He drew the seventh starting position and began the race on the inside of the fourth row.  He moved into the top five early, and by lap 30 of the caution filled event, he drove up to third place.  At the checkered flag, VanBrocklin’s third place finish was enough to move him into second in the DIRTcar Sportsman point standings.

“We really enjoying coming up to BrockvilleIt is a fun track to race on”, admits VanBrocklin.  “It was tough today with all the rain the track has taken in the past two days, and we really didn’t know what to expect, but we had a good clean race, and it was a good way to end the 2011 season”.

Coming up next for VanBrocklin will be the Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park awards banquet next month where he will be officially recognized as the 2011 Sportsman track championship.  The annual DIRTcar awards presentation will also take place in November and he will again be recognized for his DIRTcar Track Championship at Can Am, as well as his second place finish in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman point standings.

VanBrocklin’s Super DIRT Week Ends in Disappointment; 2011 Season Comes to an End This Weekend at Brockville Speedway

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - October 13, 2011

Going into the weekend, Josh VanBrocklin was pretty excited about Super DIRT Week.  He ran very well at Syracuse in his maiden voyage last year, and was hoping to run well and stay in contention for the 2011 Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman championship.  Before getting on the track at Syracuse though, VanBrocklin had a Mr. DIRTcar Series event scheduled at Weedsport Speedway on Wednesday evening, just a few minutes west of the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

At Weedsport on Wednesday night, VanBrocklin started the evening well, winning his qualifying heat, but the rest of the night turned to disaster quickly as he tagged the wall on the outside of turn one, which seemed to be a treacherous spot for many competitors all night long.

After working hard on the car all night Wednesday and Thursday, VanBrocklin was back on the track at the New York State Fairgrounds on Friday for practice and time trials for Saturday’s 30 lap championship event.  VanBrocklin’s struggles continued as motor problems developed on the car, and he would be forced to run Saturday’s last chance qualifier to make the race.

On Saturday afternoon, VanBrocklin ran the last chance qualifier, and finished in 17th place.  He was not able to make the field on his own, and would have to take a provisional starting spot, which he earned by being second in Mr. DIRTcar Series point standings.  VanBrocklin was involved in a wreck on the final lap, and finished the race in 18th place.

This coming weekend, VanBrocklin will end the 2011 racing season at the Brockville Ontario Speedway.  While VanBrocklin doesn’t have a lot of experience at the track, he did post a season ending victory there back in 2009, and will be looking to end the 2011 season in a similar fashion.

The success of VanBrocklin Motorsports would not be possible without the help of our great sponsors.  Body Pros Collision Experts, Pro Towing, Clarence Henry Coach, American Traditions Motorsports, Pemco Contracting, First Class Auto Glass, Empire Remax Realty, Savory Café, Alpine Fence, Auto Pros Auto Sales, Fuccillo Parts and Service, Number One Speed, Steve Converse Development and Topsoil, Fast Lube of Watertown, STAT Communication, Bicknell Racing Products, and Hacker’s Wing Sauce are all an integral part of VanBrocklin Motorsports.

VanBrocklin Wins Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Race at Mohawk Raceway

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - September 20, 2011

In his first year of following the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series, Josh VanBrocklin has visited several tracks for the very first time.  Last weekend, he had moderate success on their swing through western New York and into Canada at Ransomville, Merrittville and Humberstone Speedway.  This week he was once again visiting a new track, at Mohawk International Raceway in Hogansburg, New York.

It did not take VanBrocklin long to get familiar with the new track, as he posted the fastest time in his time trial group and also took the checkered flag in his qualifying heat race.  In the 50 lap Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman feature, VanBrocklin lined up from third place, and the race was slowed quickly as a caution came out right at the start with a crash involving the series point leader, as well as the next closest competitor in the series behind VanBrocklin, who entered the race in second in the standings.  When the race resumed, he jumped out to the lead early and proceeded to dominate the entire 50 lap race that went caution free after the initial incident at the start.  When the checkered flag waived VanBrocklin not only won the race, but lapped up to the fourth place car.  With the dominating performance, and the struggles of the other top points contenders, VanBrocklin moved back into championship contention, trailing the leader by only 26 points.

“This is such a great facility and great track.  It is our first time here, but we had heard so much about it from other people”, says VanBrocklin in victory lane.  “We had a great day in the point standings, and hopefully we can carry on some momentum through the rest of the season.

This coming weekend VanBrocklin will be at Brighton Speedway this coming Friday night.  VanBrocklin ran at Brighton earlier this season and will have some set up notes to fall back on for this race.  After that it will be Super DIRT Week with events at Cayuga County Fair Speedway on October 5th, and New York State Fairground on October 8th, and the 2011 Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series will conclude at Brockville on October 15th.

VanBrocklin Has Successful Weekend of DIRTcar Series Racing With Three Race Swing; Series Continues This Weekend at Mohawk Raceway

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - September 14, 2011

It was a busy weekend for Josh VanBrocklin and the VanBrocklin Motorsports team as they traveled west on a three-race swing beginning in Western New York State and continuing up into Canada.  VanBrocklin was traveling with the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series, and visited three tracks that he had never been to before.

The first destination was Ransomville Speedway, located near Niagara Falls.  VanBrocklin was making his first appearance at the track. VanBrocklin finished the race in 13th place, out of strong field of Sportsman competitors.

The following day, VanBrocklin traveled across the border into Canada and made the trip to Merrittville Speedway.  Once again a strong field of cars were on hand, and VanBrocklin spent the first part of the night getting familiar with the track.  By the end of the night, VanBrocklin was running real well, and ended the night with a 10th place finish.

The final night of the weekend came at Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario.  Just like the rest of weekend events, VanBrocklin had never seen the place before, and adapted quickly.  He finished the race in 11th place.

“We had a great trip to tracks that we have never been to before”, says VanBrocklin.  “We would have liked to have posted some better finishes, but it was a good experience for our team and we look forward to the rest of the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman schedule”.

VanBrocklin currently sits second place in DIRTcar Sportsman Series points, but trails the leader by 122 points.  VanBrocklin will be looking for some strong performances and a little luck in the final races to get back in contention.

This coming weekend VanBrocklin will be at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night for the next round of the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series.  From there, they will be at Brighton Speedway on Friday, September 23rd, Cayuga County Fair Speedway on October 5th, New York State Fairground on October 8th, and the 2011 Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series will conclude at Brockville on October 15th.

VanBrocklin Caught up in Mid Race Wreck While Battling for the Lead at Can Am Motorsports Park; Clinches 2011 Track Championship

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - August 31, 2011

At the beginning of the 2011 season, Josh VanBrocklin set a goal.  He wanted to go out and win his first ever Can Am Motorsports Park track championship.  Before the season began, VanBrocklin Motorsports Sponsors Clarence Henry Coach and American Traditions Motorsports announced that they would become title sponsors of the Sportsman division at Can Am, and VanBrocklin wanted even more to be this year’s Sportsman Champion.

On Friday night, VanBrocklin clinched the 2011 title.  While the championship was basically won weeks before, the mathematical chance of any other competitor catching him was still there.  VanBrocklin had hope to clinch the title in style with a win, and was about to make the pass for the lead on lap 11 of the 20 lap feature, but contact with another car sent VanBrocklin to the pits under caution, and he did make it back out for the restart.  In the second half of the event, he was able to make it back up to the sixth position before the checkered flag.

VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this Friday night for the final time in 2011.  This will be the final points race at the track, and VanBrocklin will be officially recognized as the 2011 champion.

For the rest of the season, VanBrocklin will be on the road chasing the 2011 Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman tour.  Next weekend they have a three race swing through western New York State and up into Canada with stops on Friday, September 9th at Ransomville Speedway, Merrittville Speedway on Saturday, September 10th and Humberstone Speedway on September 11th.  The following week they will be at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday, September 16th, and Brighton Speedway on Friday, September 23rd.  VanBrocklin currently sits third in DIRTcar series points.

VanBrocklin Returns to Can Am Winner’s Circle For Eighth Time in 2011

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - August 18, 2011

At the beginning of the 2011 racing season, Josh VanBrocklin set a goal to win the 2011 Sportsman Championship at Can Am.  After finishing the season second in track points last season, and winning the SUNY Canton Sportsman Championship, VanBrocklin had the 2011 title on his radar for quite some time.  Add in the fact that VanBrocklin’s sponsor’s American Traditions Motorsports and Clarence Henry Coach are also the headline sponsors of the Sportsman division at Can Am made the 2011 Championship even more appealing.

I don’t think anyone would have predicted the season VanBrocklin has been having this season, capturing seven feature wins in just 11 starts heading into this past weekend.  VanBrocklin has posted top five finishes in every race at Can Am this season, with a season low finish of fifth back in May.

VanBrocklin was back at Can Am on Friday night looking to add to his impressive totals this season.  In his preliminary qualifying heat race, VanBrocklin started in third place and quickly jumped to the lead, taking the checkered flag.  After making just minor adjustments before the feature, the VanBrocklin Motorsports team was confident that they had a car capable of winning once again.  Josh started the 20 lap Sportsman main event from fourth place and at the drop of the green flag he was on the move.  By lap four, VanBrocklin was at the front of the pack and cruised to his eighth victory of the season at Can Am.  The win now gives VanBrocklin an incredible 124 point lead with only three point races remaining at Can Am.

“It has been a great season for us here at Can Am this season, but we still have a lot of work to do this season.  We want to challenge for the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Championship”, says VanBrocklin.  Once our season is done here, we will be following the Sportsman tour, and hopefully we can run well”.

VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this Friday night as he looks to add yet another win in 2011.  It will be Family Autograph night at the track and VanBrocklin will signing autographs for the fans at intermission as well as the rest of the Can Am competitors.

The next race in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman series will come on Friday, September 9th at Ransomville Speedway.  From there, the team will travel into Canada for races at Merrittville Speedway on Saturday, September 10th and Humberstone Speedway on September 11th.  The following week they will be at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday, September 16th, and Brighton Speedway on Friday, September 23rd.  VanBrocklin currently sits third in DIRTcar series points.

VanBrocklin Gets Second Place Finish at Can Am Motorsports Park

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - August 11, 2011

With Can Am rained out last week, and a test session of sorts last Saturday night at the Brighton Speedway in preperation for their upcoming Mr. DIRTcar Series race in September, Josh VanBrocklin was looking forward to getting back to their normal Friday night routine, racing at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville, New York.

With qualifying heats complete, the 20 lap Sportsman feature was top priority for VanBrocklin as he was looking to win for an unprecedented ninth time at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, and extend his point lead going into the night.  VanBrocklin started from deep in the field to start the main event, and quickly began to move up.  The red flag was displayed on lap four, and when the race resumed, VanBrocklin made a power move and dashed into the third position before they completed the next lap.  VanBrocklin did all he could to make a race of it, but settled for second as the checkered flag dropped.  With the second place run, VanBrocklin now has a 110 point lead, going into the final month of the season.

“We have a pretty comfortable lead in the points, but we would like to go out and put together a few more wins, and end the season on a good note”, says VanBrocklin.  “We still have a lot more to accomplish this season, and we are looking forward to the rest of the year and running the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman tour”.

This coming Friday night, VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park.  A win will virtually put a lock on the 2011 Sportsman track championship at the ‘Nasty Track of the North’ for Josh VanBrocklin and the team.

VanBrocklin Gets Back to Victory Lane at Can Am on Friday Night

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - July 27, 2011

After a one week absence from Can Am victory lane after an impressive five race winning streak, Josh VanBrocklin was looking to start all over again and return to victory lane at Can Am on Friday night.

Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports was the loan stop on the weekend for VanBrocklin and he was hoping to make the best of it.  First up on the night were qualifying heats, and he started from the ninth position.  He moved through the field and up to third at the checkered flag.  Josh started the 20-lap Sportsman feature from outside of the third row in the sixth position.  Before the end of lap one, he was up to second, and took the lead just two laps later.  VanBrocklin led the remaining laps, returning to Can Am victory lane for the seventh time in 2011.

“The car was pretty much perfect again tonight.  I have to thank the crew for all of their hard work, all of our sponsors and the race fans for coming out and watching us race each week”, says VanBrocklin in victory lane.

This coming weekend VanBrocklin will be back at Can Am on Friday night looking to add yet another win and continue his domination of the Sportsman division.  VanBrocklin has seven wins, 11 top fives and 11 top tens in just 13 races this season.

VanBrocklin’s Winning Streak Stopped at Five Wins in a Row after Second Place Finish at Can Am

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - July 20, 2011

As the old adage goes, “you can’t win them all”. While Josh VanBrocklin and his team certainly tried, racing is a tough sport, and even with the impressive numbers he has put up this season, nobody expected the winning streak to last forever.  To win five feature wins in a row is a tip of the cap to VanBrocklin and his team, and shows that their hard work has paid off this season.

“We have been working hard, and everything seems to be going well for us this season.  We set our goal at the beginning of the season to win the 2011 Sportsman Championship here at Can Am and we still have some unfinished business here before the season is over”, says VanBrocklin.  “We also want to do well in the Sportsman DIRTcar Series, and that doesn’t resume until after our season is over here”.

Friday night started out with qualifying heats at Can Am, and VanBrocklin started from the back of the nine car field.  At the checkered flag, he had advanced to fourth place.  The team made some adjustments to the car before heading back onto the track for the 20 lap feature.  He rolled off the starting grid from the sixth position in the main event, and jumped to third before lap one was complete.  At lap six, he moved into second, but could not catch the race leader.  VanBrocklin ended the night with a second place run.

This coming weekend VanBrocklin will be back at Can Am on Friday night looking to get back to victory lane and start a new streak in the Sportsman division.  VanBrocklin still has six wins, ten top fives and ten top tens in just 12 races this season.

VanBrocklin Continues Can Am Domination With Fifth Consecutive Win

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - July 12, 2011

When the 2011 racing season started just under three months ago, Josh VanBrocklin firmly set his goal to win the Can Am Sportsman track championship.  With team sponsors Clarence Henry Coach and American Traditions Motorsports also the headline sponsors for the Sportsman division at Can Am, VanBrocklin wanted to make his mark on the Sportsman division.  This past weekend, VanBrocklin was looking increase his lead in point lead and continue his four race winning streak at Can Am on Friday night.

VanBrocklin arrived at Can Am with a four race win streak on the line.  First up was qualifying heats and VanBrocklin started from the sixth position.  The eight lap race went off without incident, and VanBrocklin charged through the field getting as high as second before running out of laps.  In the 20 lap Sportsman feature VanBrocklin started from outside row four in position number eight.  With just five laps in he was into the top five.  Just two laps later, the caution was out, and now VanBrocklin was up to third place, with the leaders in sight.  On the restart, he quickly moved to second place, and began to size up the leader.  Just before halfway, VanBrocklin made his move for the lead, and cruised to victory for the fifth consecutive night at Can Am and increased his point lead to a virtually insurmountable 103 point lead.

This coming weekend VanBrocklin will be back at Can Am on Friday night looking for an unprecedented six feature wins in a row in the Sportsman division.  VanBrocklin also won on opening night at Can Am to give him six feature wins in total and has posted a season low of fifth place.  He has six wins, nine top fives and nine top tens in just 11 races this season.

VanBrocklin Takes Fourth Feature Win in a Row at Can Am; Third Place Finish in DIRTcar Sportsman Series Race at Rolling Wheels

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - July 6, 2011

For Josh VanBrocklin and the VanBrocklin Motorsports team, the 2011 season has started of as a banner year for the DIRTcar Sportsman team.  Going into this past weekend, he had posted four wins in just eight starts at his home track, Can Am Motorsports Park, posting a season low finish of fifth.  VanBrocklin hope to get feature win number five on the weekend as he returned to Can Am on Friday night, before making a stop at the Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, New York on Independence Day Monday for a Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman series race.

The weekend began with VanBrocklin’s usual Friday night visit to Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park.  After winning the last three features at the track, VanBrocklin was hoping to keep that streak going.  First up were the qualifying heats and Josh rolled onto the track from the fourth position.  At the drop of the green flag, he moved up through the field, and took the lead just after completing lap three.  He cruised on to take the win.  The team made some minor adjustments before the feature race, and VanBrocklin had to come from the ninth position for the main event.  By lap five, he was up to fifth, and charging towards the leaders.  A caution bunched the field up on lap seven, and VanBrocklin pounced on the opportunity as he took the lead on lap nine and cruised victory.

“We have bad a great season here at Can Am, things have been working out really well.  Our team has given me a great car to drive each night, and it has been awesome”, says VanBrocklin.  “Hopefully we can continue to run well on Monday for the DIRTcar Sportsman series race at Rolling Wheels”.

At Rolling Wheels on Monday, VanBrocklin led the 30 lap feature virtually from the start, but a late race restart bunched the field, and he slipped to third place at the finish.  A top five finish on the DIRTcar Sportsman tour is a great accomplishment, and VanBrocklin hopes that the team can build on that momentum for the next DIRTcar Sportsman Series race at September 9th at Ransomville Speedway.  This race will kick off a three race in three nights swing through western New York State and across the border into Canada for events at Merrittville Speedway on September 10th and Humberstone Speedway on September 11th.

This coming weekend, VanBrocklin will be at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Friday night looking to extend his already impossible point lead of 87 points.  With five feature wins already this season, he has a very firm grip on the 2011 championship as we approach mid season.

After winning the last two events at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, Watertown, New York racer Josh VanBrocklin was excited to get back to the track, hoping to add to his win totals on the year.  VanBrocklin had also won the season opening event at Can Am back in April, and was hoping to regain the points lead at Can Am.  He entered the night just eight points back of the leader.

VanBrocklin arrived at Can Am on Friday evening, and the first order of events was qualifying heats.  VanBrocklin started his eight-lap heat from the eighth position, and moved forward to fifth at the checkered flag.  VanBrocklin made some adjustments on the car, hoping to make it better for the 20-lap feature.  Before the feature started, VanBrocklin participated in a Can Am Kids Club event, and VanBrocklin made a lap around the truck with a young fan in the Can Am pace truck.  After taking some photos on the track, VanBrocklin went back to his car to get ready for the main event.  VanBrocklin rolled off the starting grid from the seventh position.  At the drop of the green flag, he began to move up, getting into the top five by lap two, and up to fourth with just five laps in.  At halfway, VanBrocklin made his move to third and began to reel in the race leaders.  With three laps to go he took over the top spot and drove on to his third consecutive victory, and fourth overall at Can Am.

“The track was in great shape tonight, this is about the best that it has been all season long”, says VanBrocklin in victory lane.  “I really have to thank my sponsors, and the crew for all of their support this season”.

Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park has the week off this coming weekend, and VanBrocklin is going to have a rare off weekend during the season.  He will be back on the track next Friday night at Can Am, and then Independence Day Monday, July 4th, the DIRTcar Sportsman Series will resume at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, New York.

VanBrocklin Gets Second Win in a Row at Can Am Motorsports Park

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - June 14, 2011

Just one event filled the schedule for Josh VanBrocklin and his Watertown, New York based VanBrocklin Motorsports team.  They made their weekly visit to Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park in Lafargeville looking to extend their point lead and continue to build on their momentum at Can Am, coming off a win just one week ago.

The night began with qualifying heats at Can Am on Friday, and VanBrocklin started fourth and held the position through the entire eight lap distance.  In the 20 lap main event, VanBrocklin lined up from the seventh position.  VanBrocklin wasted little time getting to the front of the pack, advancing to third before the completion of lap one, and picked up second place just one lap later.  He patiently waited for an opportunity to take the lead, and that opportunity arose on lap seven, as he powered to the front and never looked back.  The win at was his third of the year at Can Am, and was the second consecutive triumph at the fast Can Am half mile.  The win now puts VanBrocklin just eight points out of the lead in the battle for the Sportsman championship.

“We had a great car again tonight.  I really have to thank the crew for all of their hard work, and of course all of our sponsors for their support”, says VanBrocklin in victory lane.  “We are off to a real good start this year with three wins now, and hopefully we can build on that all year long”.

VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this coming Friday night.  The next race on the DIRTcar Sportsman Series schedule is July 4th at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, New York.   VanBrocklin will also have his car and hauler on display this Sunday, June 19th at the Watertown Fairgrounds Arena for the Big Truck and Fast Cars show.  The show gets underway on Sunday at 10am and will last through 4pm.

VanBrocklin Returns to Can Am Victory Lane; Begins DIRTcar Sportsman Tour at Cornwall Motor Speedway

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - June 7, 2011

After winning the first two races of the season at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, Josh VanBrocklin and the VanBrocklin Motorsports team were looking to back to victory lane once again this weekend.  To top off and exciting weekend of racing, VanBrocklin also had a weekend visit to Cornwall Motor Speedway for the DIRTcar Sportsman Series opener.

Before getting into the details of Can Am on Friday night, we must go back to May 29th at Rolling Wheels Raceway for their Memorial Day weekend event. Just after taking second place in the feature event, VanBrocklin blew the motor in his car.  Although the team lost their only motor, the team was excited about how well they were running at the very tough Rolling Wheels Raceway.

Being in a bind entering this weekend’s racing events.  VanBrocklin borrowed a motor belonging to Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park.  The motor was untested coming right from the crate, but that didn’t phase VanBrocklin.  With the borrowed powerplant under the hood, he started the 20 lap Sportsman feature from seventh place.  After five laps VanBrocklin advanced to third place, and began to chase the leaders.  As the flagman signaled halfway, VanBrocklin took the lead and never looked back.

“We had a great car tonight.  I really have to thank Tiger (Chapman) and Lloyd (Larmon) from Can Am for letting us use the motor.  We were in a bind after blowing our motor up last weekend at Rolling Wheels, and we had sold our motor from last year”.

After working on the car Saturday preparing for the first DIRTcar Sportsman Series race of the year, VanBrocklin and the team made the 2 hour trip from Watertown, New York to Cornwall, Ontario Canada and the Cornwall Motor Speedway.  This was the first trip to Cornwall for VanBrocklin, and the team was hoping to leave the place with a strong finish to set the tone for the rest of the year on the tour.  Despite having no experience at the track, VanBrocklin hit the track for time trials and finished fourth in his group, giving him the fourth place starting spot in his qualifying heat.  As the qualifying race ended, VanBrocklin qualified by finishing in fifth, but just missed out on the final spot for the redraw.  VanBrocklin started the 50 lap main event from the 14th position. Cornwall is a very short high-banked track and things happen fast, just as it did for VanBrocklin, getting caught up in an incident in turn four on lap two. VanBrocklin returned to the rear of the 29 car field and stormed back through the pack to finish in 11th place.

“Cornwall was a lot of fun”, says VanBrocklin.  “It is unfortunate that we got caught up in that wreck early, because we had a top five car.  We really did have a blast here, it is always fun going to a new track.  I look forward to coming back here again”.

VanBrocklin Adds Another Top Five in 2011 With Third Place Finish at Can Am

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - May 16, 2011

This past weekend Josh VanBrocklin arrived at Can Am looking to get back to their winning ways of opening night.  Despite scoring a top five finish last week, VanBrocklin was just a few points out of lead in the point standings entering the evening. It may be early in the 2011 season, but every point will be important between now and September when the champion is crowned, and VanBrocklin has set his sights on that Can Am championship this season.

In his 8 lap qualifying heat, VanBrocklin lined up in the fourth position, and quickly proved he had a fast car, taking the lead on lap two, and cruising to victory.  After the heat, VanBrocklin and his team made some minor changes and lined up for the 20 lap main event in fifth place.  VanBrocklin climbed to fourth on the opening lap, and held his own through the distance of the race.  When the checkered flag waved, and the dust settled, VanBrocklin finished in third place.

“We were a little better this week, but we still have some work to do.  I just want to thank my team and all of my sponsors for everything they do for us, and hopefully we can get back to victory lane next weekend”.

VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this coming weekend looking to take over the point lead, and get back to victory lane in 2011.  Besides racing at Can Am weekly, VanBrocklin will also race in the DIRTcar Sportsman series, with their first race scheduled for Cornwall Motor Speedway on June 5th.

Another Top Five Finish For VanBrocklin at Can Am Motorsports Park

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - May 10, 2011

Consistency is the key for any championship contender, and while a win every week is the goal going to the track, a top five finish is more then enough to keep Watertown, New York racer Josh VanBrocklin in contention for the 2011 Can Am Sportsman championship.

The night started with an 8 lap qualifying heat, and due to his win on opening night, VanBrocklin had to start near the back of the pack.  VanBrocklin finished the race in fifth and returned to the pit area as the team made several changes to the handling of the car before going back out for the 20 lap main event.

A middle of the pack starting spot didn’t faze VanBrocklin, starting from the tenth position.  Just two laps in he had climbed to seventh, and then gained another position just one lap later.  By halfway, he had moved into the top five, and fought hard to real in the rest of the leaders, but settled for a fifth place finish.

“We were hoping to be a little better then a fifth place car tonight”, says VanBrocklin after the race.  The track was a little bit rough because of all the rain that they had here this past week, and it was tough going out there.  We will be back next week and hopefully we can return to victory lane.

VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this Friday for another 20 lap feature.  He will be running for his first ever Can Am track Championship in 2011 and also plans to run the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman tour this season.  The first race on the schedule for the series is at Cornwall Motor Speedway on June 5th.

Josh VanBrocklin off to Perfect Start to 2011 Season with Win at Can Am

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - May 2, 2011

With the weather finally co-operating, Josh VanBrocklin was finally able to get the 2011 racing season underway.  A picture perfect day turned out to be a picture perfect night for VanBrocklin as he captured the opening night win, in front of sponsors Clarence Henry Coach and Pro Towing who were also track sponsors for the evening’s events.

VanBrocklin’s day started out with an 8 lap qualifying heat, and he took the checkered flag in that as well, turning fast times in the battle for the number one starting spot for the 20 lap main event.  VanBrocklin took the checkers with ease after charging through the field, earning that coveted pole position.

When the feature got underway, VanBrocklin set the pace, and led every lap along the way to collect the convincing opening night win.  Several cautions marred the event, but in the end VanBrocklin had the dominant car, and was happy to share his excitement with his team.

“The team gave me a really good car, and the track position really helped as well”, says VanBrocklin, referring to his front row start.  “It is really special winning this race on a night that our sponsors are also sponsoring the night at the Speedway.  We can’t thank Clarence Henry Coach and Pro Towing and all of our sponsors enough for everything they do for our team, and I am happy that they are here tonight”.

VanBrocklin will be back at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park this Friday for the second race of the season.  He will be running for his first ever Can Am track Championship in 2011 and also plans to run the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman tour this season.  The first race on the schedule for the series is at Cornwall Motor Speedway on June 5th.

VanBrocklin Honored at Can Am Banquet; Ready to get 2011 Started

Craig Revelle – Finish Line Web Design - March 21, 2011

This past weekend, Josh VanBrocklin and the VanBrocklin Motorsports team attended the awards banquet for Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park, as they honored the champions and top finishers from the 2010 season.  VanBrocklin captured the 2010 SUNY Canton series championship, and was also recognized for his second place finish in the overall track points last season.

The awards didn’t end there, however, as VanBrocklin was also recognized as most sportsmanlike driver in the Sportsman division at Can Am, winning a free pit pass for the coming season, and also winning the perfect attendance award for 2010.

“It was a really good night for us.  We didn’t know about the sportsmanship award, and the perfect attendance award was just by luck of the draw”, says VanBrocklin, referring to the random draw with all Sportsman competitors that had perfect attendance in 2010.  “Id like to thank Tiger (Chapman), Chip (Burdick), and all of the Can Am staff for a great night”.

With 2010 now in the books, VanBrocklin Motorsports can now look ahead to the 2011 racing season, which is just three weeks away.  The car will be on display at the Salmon Run Mall in Watertown next week, as it enters the mall on Sunday, March 27th, and will be there until Saturday, April 2nd.  The following week, VanBrocklin will be at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 9th early in the day, and then pack up and head to Canandaigua Speedway during the evening.  Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports Park will kick off their season on Saturday, April 16th.

“We are really looking forward to getting the season underway.  Two of our major sponsors will also be title sponsors of the Sportsman division at Can Am, so we are really looking forward to making them proud, and our goal is to win the Can Am championship this year”, says VanBrocklin.
